There are no doubt many members of the public here in the UK who believe that to be able to buy a classic car you have to be quite wealthy. Well, a recent auction has taken place that will dispel this myth as a number of classic cars were sold for prices that would have been well within the budget of quite a lot of people.
The H and H Classic Car Auction Online took place on the 2nd February 2019. Below we provide details of just some of the many cars that were sold to new owners on the day.
A 1936 Austin Seven Ruby with green bodywork had an estimated price of £4,000 to £5,000 but was actually sold for £6,750. Around 290,000 of these wonderful saloon cars were built between 1922 to 1939. It has an opening windscreen.
A 1968 Bedford CA Van had an estimated price of £8,000 to £10,000 but was sold for £9,333. Throughout its life it has only had three owners and only has 61,000 miles on the clock. It is a delivery vehicle and looks fantastic and was said by the owner who sold it at the auction to be in excellent condition.
How about a 1967 Volkswagen Beetle 1300 that had an estimated price of £5,500 to £6,500 but was sold for £5,175. This classic car was brought over from South Africa in 2016 and up to that time had only had one owner. It has lovely looking blue coloured bodywork and cream upholstery. You may be surprised to read that it only has 29,000 miles on the clock.
Another Beetle was also sold this being a 1966 Volkswagen Beetle 1600 that had an estimated price of £6,500 to £7,500 and was sold for £6,075. Like the one above, it was imported into the UK in 2016 from South Africa. It has Sahara Beige bodywork and cream/beige upholstery.
You may have been interested in a 1939 Austin 10/4 Conway Cabriolet that had an estimated price of £9,000 to £11,000 but achieved a sale price of £10,125. The bodywork is in Westminster Green. It is believed that it is one of only 27 of these delightful cars still in existence making it extremely rare.
What about a 1979 Ford Escort 1600 Sport that had an estimated price of £6,000 to £8,000 but was sold for £7,416. This fantastic looking car has 79,452 miles on the clock.
A 1975 Rover 2200 SC Saloon had an estimated sale price of £1,800 to £2,200 but was sold for £2,250. This classic car has 81,500 miles on the clock.
