Many of you will have watched the “Darling Buds of May” TV series that was on many years ago featuring David Jason as Pop Larkin. If you are a classic car enthusiast, you will probably remember that he used to drive around in a delightful looking yellow 1926 Rolls-Royce 20hp Landaulette by Park Ward in the series.

Well, at the H and H classic car auction that took place at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford on the 17th November 2021, the above vehicle was sold for £63,000. Presumably, the fact that it had appeared in the above TV series had a bearing upon the sale price that was achieved.

Apparently, the car had been purchased by its previous owner for £100,000 as recently as 2019.

At the same auction a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 190SL was sold for £219,375. It is extremely rare as only 562 right hand drive 190SLs were built. Its previous owner bought the classic car for £93,000 in April 2017 and spent about 3 and ½ years restoring it at a cost of around £104,000.

A Metallic Silver left hand drive 1973 Jaguar E-Type V12 Roadster was sold at the auction for £61,875. It is said to have 66,000 miles on the clock and to have had one owner until as recently as 2019 when it was brought over to the UK from America.

A 1939 Standard Flying 12 was sold for £4,950 that shows you do not need a huge balance in a savings account to buy a classic car. Apparently, it featured in the film “A is for Acid” back in 2002. It has 86,682 miles on the clock. It has a 1,609cc engine and a manual gearbox.
