On the 31st May 2015, the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu in the delightful New Forest held the first Simply Pink rally at which owners of pink cars brought along their vehicles some of which were classic cars to be put on display for all visitors to see. It was in aid of a good cause as the rally supported the Breast Cancer Campaign.
You will be pleased to read that a lot of pink cars turned up in a variety of makes and models. Cars came from all over the country including Cambridge, Kent and Wales so people certainly travelled considerable distances to support the event. In fact, we are pleased to inform you that the sum of £825 was raised for the Breast Cancer Campaign.
Obviously, the inclement weather on the day did not put people off attending. All pink cars were welcome – they did not just have to be classic cars. One of the vehicles on display was a Ford Streetka soft top Fab Too that took part in the Thunderbirds film back in 2004. Other cars that were expected to attend included a classic Hillman Husky and a Mercedes SL.
Even if you did not own a pink car you could still have attended. You could have dressed your car, no matter what the colour of the vehicle, in pink ribbon or you could have even dressed yourself up in pink clothing and you would have been able to take part in the rally. You could also have looked at all the other attractions that the National Motor Museum has to offer for a reduced price.
Let us hope that due to the success of the first Simply Pink rally that many more will be planned in the years to come to enable you to join in the spirit and support a good cause at the same time.
