It is a 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series 2 4.2 Litre Roadster. It has a guide price of £60,000 to £70,000.

It is being auctioned by Classic Car Auctions on Sunday 24th March 2024 from 12.00GMT.

This delightful looking signal red open-topped classic sports car will no doubt catch the eye of many a passer by should it be seen being driven either in city, town or country. Its 4.2 litre engine produces 240bhp and it comes with a top speed of 151mph. It has chrome wire wheels. It has black leather seating and the soft top is also in black.

Those of you who are fans of Nigel Havers will be aware that this 72 year old actor has featured in numerous roles. He was possibly most famous for his role in Chariots of Fire that was produced in 1981 where he featured as Lord Andrew Lindsay. He was also in the film A Passage to India. He appeared as Tom Latimer in the TV comedy series known as Don’t Wait Up.

It has to be said that it is not all that often that a classic open-topped sports car comes up for auction that is owned by a very well known British actor. Presumably, the guide price takes into account the fact that it is owned by Nigel Havers.
