The London Classic Car Show that took place last month appears to have been a very big success with more than 37,000 people visiting the event between the 23rd to 26th February at ExCel London. This was a record exceeding last year’s numbers by 11% which perhaps just confirms the interest that there is in classic cars. It was opened by Emanuele Pirro and Derek Bell who have won the Le Mans 24-hour race on a number of occasions.
There were certainly an awful lot of classic vehicles to cast your eyes over with almost 800 attending the event. You be interested to read that the value of the vehicles on display was put at over £500 million.
In addition there were many exhibitors including the likes of insurers, restorers, parts, shipping and transport and memorabilia so there was no doubt a lot to see.
A number of cars were sold with a Mini Clubman 1275 achieving a sale price of £30,500 that was a world record.
It will come as no surprise to read that Ferrari was well represented at the show with 21 vehicles on display with an estimated value of around £120 million. There was even a Ferrari 250 GTO that was believed to be worth in excess of £40 million making it the most expensive classic car on display. There were also many other well known makes of car such as Porsche, Lotus, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Peugeot, Ford, Land Rover and Bentley.
This is the third time that this show has taken place and there is another one scheduled to take place at the ExCel London between 15th to 18th February 2018. Let us hope that it is as well attended if not better than this year’s event with some more memorable classic cars on display as well as a huge selection of other exhibitors to provide classic car enthusiasts with a wonderful day out.
