A Rolls Royce that used to be in the possession of the proud owner George Formby who is a famous entertainer from Wigan is available for interested purchasers.
This delightful classic car is available at a minimum price of £59,000.
The Rolls Royce dates back as far as 1937 being a 25/30 classic special model. Records reveal that the car was bought by George Formby in 1938 from Jack Barclay Ltd and could have continued to be owned by Mr Formby until the early 1960s.
The classis car is presently in the proud possession of Christoph Auer-Welsbach who is from Austria whose family purchased the car back in 1994 having spent a long five years trying to track it down.
Mr Auer-Welsbach stated: “Our whole family was interested in this model of Rolls Royce, but especially my father. He has a penchant for such cars since my great grandfather, Carl Baron Auer von Welsbach, owned one of the first Mercedes Benz in 1908.”
He said that his family knew that the car was purchased by George Formby back in 1938 but, in 1963, it was bought by Mr Duessler from Snettisham in the United Kingdom through Mascot Motors Ltd.
Mr Auer-Welsbach bought the car from Balmoral Automobile in the United Kingdom and, prior to that, the car was owned by Mr Stewart in Texas, USA where it had been located. The vehicle is presently in Carinthia, Austria.
Apparently the classic car is in excellent condition and is described as an HP Sports Saloon with P2 “F” steering.
The car has attended numerous classic car rallies during the last 15 years that included the Alpen and Silvretta classics. It is capable of reaching a top speed of 120km per hour.
Christoph Auer-Welsbach also commented: “This car is bound to appeal to anyone who has a penchant for vintage cars or who is a George Formby fan. It has been restored to its original condition by a professional vintage car garage in Austria and Rolls Royce itself in the UK.”
Although the model may not be all that exclusive its specification and type, its fantastic condition, the fact that it has a complete history and that it has had a very famous owner who was renowned as an artist around the world makes it a prized possession for some lucky buyer.
