You are probably aware that the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) has been in place for a number of years now in the centre of London with a view to helping the environment due to lowering carbon emissions. The daily charge is £12.50 if you drive into the above area in a certain vehicle. Well, this area is to be expanded in a few days time.

It was announced some time ago that from the 29th August 2023 the ULEZ zone has been extended to include all London Boroughs of which there are a total of 33 and, needless to say, this has not been well received by many people.

If the car that you are driving in London is of a type that means you have to pay the above charge then you could consider buying a classic car as long as it is over 40 years of age. This is because such vehicles are exempt from the above £12.50 daily charge.

Now you may think you have to spend an awful lot of money to purchase a classic car but this is not the case. In fact, potentially, you may well find a selection of classic vehicles costing a few thousand pounds. So, not only could you avoid having to pay the ULEZ charge if you buy such a classic car to drive around one or more of the London Boroughs but, who knows, you may be lucky and purchase a classic car that appreciates in value.
