It is always great to hear about people supporting a good cause and classic car enthusiasts are well known as strong supporters of worthwhile events. You will be pleased to hear about an extremely popular event that is scheduled for Sunday 21st April 2013.
It is called the Brimar Vintage and Classic Car Run and Display and is looking to raise as much money as possible for Children’s Hospice South West. This will be the sixth time this event has taken place with the run actually occurring between a couple of garden centres.
The event is being organised yet again by Brian and Mary Curtis from Street who are keen classic car owners possessing a 1933 Austin 10 Cabriolet and a 1935 Austin 12. They became involved in the charity following the death of a friend’s grandchild who had been supported by the children’s hospice.
For those of you who would like to be present you can arrive from 10am at Congresbury’s Cadbury Garden and Leisure Centre. The cars will be waved off by Alex Lovell who is a BBC Points West presenter at midday.
This is an extremely well supported event with about 180 classic and vintage cars participating in the run ending at Sanders Garden World at Brent Knoll. You will then be able to view the cars at length from 1 to 4pm. A number of the classic cars are in excess of 80 years of age.
The incredible sum of £5,288 was raised last year.
If you wish to enter your classic car this must be done in advance. So far the oldest vehicle that has entered is a Renault from 1912.
This is a tremendous opportunity for all you classic car lovers to have a wonderful day out passing through some delightful Somerset countryside and admiring numerous restored vintage and classic cars. Let us hope that the weather is kind to add to the event.
