Bonhams are holding The Scottsdale Auction this month in Arizona in the USA at which there are numerous classic vehicles available including a 1967 Volkswagen Type 2 Westfalia Camper that has an estimate of between £61,000 to £81,000.
This particular vehicle has been beautifully restored to a very high standard. The 1,600 cc air-cooled engine has even been rebuilt producing 53 bhp. It has a 4 speed manual gearbox.
Wherever possible during the restoration process the people carrying out the work have tried to use original parts. Both the exterior and interior are a delight to behold and will catch the eyes of many as it passes by in the street. The seating is in leather and the bodywork has been painted in pearl factory white. The flooring in the living area of the vehicle is in hardwood. It has a roof area that pops up thus creating extra headroom. It will be interesting to see just how much interest this classic camper van attracts on the day of the auction and,if sold, how much it goes for.
There are many other classic vehicles being auctioned at the above event including the likes of a 1978 Aston Martin V8 Volante that has an estimated price of between £160,000 to £200,000, a 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 Roadster with an estimated price of between £160,000 to £200,000. Or how about a classic scooter – a 1960 Lambretta Li 125 Series 2 with an estimated sale price of between £9,800 to £13,000.
Obviously, for those classic car enthusiasts living in the UK, it would be quite a journey to the event but there may be something that appeals to you.
