According to the Confused.com Car Insurance Price Index, the cost of fully comprehensive car insurance dropped in the second quarter of 2020 by an average of £39 per annum when compared with the first quarter of 2020. In Q2 2020, the average amount paid was £770 per annum compared to £809 per annum in Q1 2020. This news will no doubt please motorists at a time when, due to COVID-19, many people have lost their jobs.
The most expensive to insure to drive their vehicles are 18 year olds who pay an average of £2,134 per annum. A 21 year old is paying an average of £1,525 per annum but this is £118 per annum less than was being paid three months ago. A 36 year old is paying an average of £631 per annum and a 67 year old an average of £460 per annum.
The most expensive region to insure a car is in Inner London at £1,202 per annum. It is pleasing to read that this figure is £70 per annum less than was being paid three months ago.
It is interesting that men pay an average of £810 per annum compared to women who pay an average of £719 per annum. That is a difference of £91 per annum for comprehensive car insurance.
