Those of you who are classic car enthusiasts with a particular interest in Ferraris may be interested to read that at the Amelia Island Auctions 2023 that took place on the 2nd and 3rd March 2023 7 out of the top 10 classic cars sold though Gooding & Company were Ferraris.
The car that achieved the highest selling price was a 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider that was sold for $18,045,000. The coachwork was by Carrozzeria Scaglietti. A mere 106 250 GT California Spiders were manufactured between 1957 to 1963 with only 37 of them having the covered headlights. We are sure that you will agree this sounds like a particular rare classic car. The condition of this Ferrari is described as concours quality. Let us hope that the new owner takes great care of this wonderful vehicle.
A 1953 Ferrari 250 MM Spider Series 11 sold for $3,525,000. The coachwork was by Vignale. Only 12 Vignale Spiders were manufactured using the 250 MM Chassis. It has a 2,953 cc engine producing 240 BHP at 7,200 RPM.It comes with a 4 speed manual gearbox. You may be interested to read that only 31 of the 250 MM were built and this one has a comprehensive history of racing. What a stunning looking vehicle this is.
A 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 also achieved a sale price of $3,525,000. It has been in the same family ownership for more than 40 years. It has under 10,800 miles on the clock. It comes with a 3,285cc engine producing 300BHP at 8,000 RPM. It had not been restored. A great looking vehicle.
