Classic car enthusiasts will be interested to read that at Silverstone Auctions The NEC Classic Live Online Auction on Friday 13th November 2020 a world record price was achieved for the auction of a classic right hand drive 1988 Porsche 928 SE. The vehicle in question was sold for £129,375. Only 42 right hand drive versions of this sports car were built for the UK market making it extremely rare that no doubt had some bearing on the sale price achieved. It is also worth noting that this one only has 10,325 miles on the clock. An interesting thing was that from 1988 to 2015 it was owned by the Egyptian Embassy.
There were many other classic car sold at the above auction on 13th and 14th November full details of which can be found on the auctioneer’s website but we thought we would mention just some of them below.
A 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL was sold for £129,375. This is a rare vehicle as only 562 were manufactured. It is right hand drive. Its bodywork is in grey/blue and it has a red leather interior. It underwent a full restoration in 2017. This classic open-topped sports car will no doubt catch the attention of many a passer by.
A right hand drive 1968 Lancia Fulvia 1.3 HF Rally Car – RHD was sold for £19,688. Apparently, it had had only two previous owners that is somewhat unusual. This is an extremely rare classic car as the belief is that a mere 8 were built.
Those of you that like the Volkswagen Beetle will be interested to read that a 1978 Volkswagen Beetle Last Edition was sold for £14.063. Only 300 of these vehicles were manufactured. It is said to have a mere 21,166 miles on the clock making it a very low mileage vehicle. It is said to be in showroom condition.
A 1968 Daimler V8-250 Saloon with Racing Green paintwork was sold for £15,750. It has a 2548cc Hemi V8 engine. It is said to be in excellent condition. It has an MOT until 4th October 2021.
